There is little doubt that we love the SUVs we offer at Avis Ford. One of our favorites is the comfortable compact SUV the 2017 Ford Escape. Available in three trim levels, six exterior colors, and front-wheel and four-wheel drive, the 2017 Ford Escape is a perfect SUV for drivers in the Southfield, MI area. Of course, we also understand that modern car buyers also do a great deal of research before purchasing a new or pre-owned vehicle. That is why we thought it might be helpful to compare our 2017 Ford Escape with some of the other compact SUVs on the market. Today, we will be matching the 2017 Ford Escape up against the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V.
2017 Ford Escape
Because versatility is a major component of all Ford vehicles, three different but equally special engines can power the 2017 Ford Escape. These advanced engines include a powerful 2.0-liter Twin-Scroll EcoBoost I-4 that puts out 245 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 275 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,000 rpm. When combined with a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission you can get up to 30-mpg highway and 23-mpg city in fuel efficiency.* You'll enjoy a smooth and comfortable ride thanks to the independent MacPherson strut-type front suspension, independent double lateral-link rear suspension, electric power-assisted steering, AdvanceTrac with RSC, and twin-tube hydraulic gas-pressurized shocks. As far as safety, the 2017 Ford Escape is protected by the Ford Personal Safety System, which features dual-stage driver and front-passenger airbags. Other standard safety features include a Safety Canopy System, SOS Post-Crash Alert System, and Belt-Minder. For you comfort, the 2017 Ford Escape can be equipped with leather-trimmed front bucket seats, 10-way power driver and passenger seats, dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with cruise and audio controls, manual tilt and telescoping steering column. As far as connectivity and entertainment, the 2017 Ford Escape can be equipped with a 10-speaker audio system from Sony, SYNC3 and SYNC Connect systems, and even voice-activated touchscreen navigation system with pinch-to-zoom capability. Drivers will also benefit from the Best Towing Capacity in a Compact SUV of 3,500 lbs.
2017 Toyota RAV4
This SUV is powered by a 2.5-Liter four-cylinder 16-valve engine with Dual VVT-i, that produces 176 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 172 lb.-ft. of torque at 4100 rpm. As far as transmissions, you have a choice of a six-speed Electronically Controlled Automatic Transmission with intelligence or a CVT. Depending on which one you choose, you can expect to get up to 30-mpg highway/23-mpg. For an additional outlay, there are some higher-end audio systems, and a seven-inch high-resolution touch-screen with split-screen display.
2017 Honda CR-V
Under the hood of some trims of the 2017 Honda CR-V, you will find a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that puts out 184 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and 180 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,900 rpm. There is a CVT transmission that helps you get up to 28-mpg in gas mileage. The interior features a multi-functional center console storage with sliding armrest and a variety of optional comfort features available for extra cost.
While this is only a quick look at all three compact SUVs, the benefits of the 2017 Ford Escape do jump off the page. When you combine the leading towing capacity, an overall 5-Star Crash Safety Rating by the NHTSA, better fuel-efficiency, more performance, and amazing price point, it is easy to see why we are so excited about the 2017 Ford Escape.
