We here at Avis Ford are excited to offer such a quality vehicle to our customers.

Design

Right off, you’ll notice a different look for the 2019 Ford Transit Connect. It’s a good way for Ford to keep the van appearing fresh and modern, plus it presents well for organizations that like a professional presentation.

Both the front and rear ends have been redesigned. Everyone will realize the van has a more modern appearance, thanks to this big change. The dashboard has also been revamped in its layout, with the results being something that looks more modern and functions better than the previous design.

Not only does the Ford Transit Connect look different for 2019, the structure has been altered. A number of reinforcements to the van’s structure help with small-overlap crashes, or when the front corner of the vehicle strikes an object. That means a lower risk of the driver or front passenger getting injured, which is a huge plus for fleet managers.

Performance

While the Ford Transit Connect is no sports car, it still needs to perform duties for an organization well. The previous iteration of the van was a real workhorse, but Ford has upgraded quite a few performance features.

The main performance changes come with two new engines for the lineup. One is a 2.0-liter flex-fuel direct-injection four-cylinder produces 160 peak horsepower and 146 lb.-ft. of torque. The other engine, a 1.5-liter turbodiesel called EcoBlue is a little more uncertain. We don’t know what kind of power it will produce, though no doubt low-end torque will be phenomenal. Fuel efficiency for this engine should also be amazing.

Both engines come with Auto Start-Stop Technology standard. When the van comes to a stop, the engine shuts down completely and automatically, conserving fuel. This means no idling at stop lights, when making a delivery, etc. Once the driver releases the brake pedal, the engine springs back to life. It’s a clever way to conserve resources and shrink operating budgets.

To handle the new crop of engines and squeeze maximum performance out of the those returning to the lineup, Ford is also going with a new transmission. The 8F35 eight-speed automatic transmission should keep engine RPMs in an optimal range, helping greatly with engine response and fuel efficiency.

Ford also changed up the geometry of the rear suspension for the van. Not only is the layout different, new single-rate springs help with comfort and handling heavy loads, while maintaining handling performance on the road.

Tech Shift

One of the most exciting changes for the 2019 Ford Transit Connect is in the area of technology. More specifically, new driver-assist systems reduce the risk of dangerous situations.

All models come with forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, plus automatic emergency braking with dynamic braking support standard. Side-wind mitigation also comes standard. Among the optional safety technologies is blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane keep assist.
