2020 Ford F-150 Available in Southfield, MI

It could be easy to take the Ford F-150 for granted a little. Everyone probably knows it's America's biggest-selling vehicle and has been for some considerable time. However, Ford is constantly updating and improving the F-150 to keep it ahead of the competition, so let's remind ourselves of why it's the king of light-duty trucks by taking a look at what the 2020 Ford F-150 has to offer.

New for 2020

Changes to the F-150 for the 2020 model year are pretty limited, but they do help to fine-tune this hugely successful even further. The advanced driving aids are now being grouped into packages, with some of them coming standard with the Lariat trim and higher and others only standard with the Limited. There are new appearance packages so buyers can dress-up their XL, XLT and Lariat models even further, and the 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot is now standard across the range.

Trim levels

Buyers now have seven different trim levels to choose from in the 2020 Ford F-150 lineup. The entry model in the range is the XL, and then the range goes upwards through XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited and range-topping Raptor versions.

Engines

No rival offers a greater choice of engines than the F-150 does right now, with no less than six different powerplants to choose from. The standard engine is a naturally aspirated 3.3-liter V-6 that develops 290 horsepower and 265 lb.-ft. of torque. Next up is a 2.7-liter turbocharged V-6, and this popular unit puts out 325 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque.

Then there's the familiar 5.0-liter V-8 with its 395 horsepower and 400 lb.-ft. of torque, and a pair of 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6s. The first of the pair produces 375 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque, while the other is a high output version that develops 450 horsepower and 510 lb.-ft. for the F-150 Limited and Raptor models.

Finally, we now also have a 3.0-liter V-6 turbodiesel, and this fuel-efficient and torquey engine boasts 250 horsepower and 440 lb.-ft. of torque.

Transmissions

The base 3.3-liter V-6 comes mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, but every other powerplant comes mated to Ford's excellent 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is the standard format in most cases, but every version of the F-150 is available with all-wheel-drive.

Features and equipment

It would be easier to list what isn’t available with the F-150 these days. Basically, you can configure the Ford to be any type of truck you want it to be. Entry-level XL models have manual windows and locks, an AM/FM radio, vinyl floors, a tilt/telescoping wheel, air conditioning, flip-up rear seats with four-door configurations. The XLT is where most retail buyers are likely to start as this model adds power locks and windows, cloth front seats, chrome bumpers, and a CD player, and it's also possible to add additional features from an extensive list of options.

As you go higher in the range, the standard and available features are every bit as upscale and advanced as you’d find in luxury sedans and SUVs.
