This February, as we celebrate Black History Month, we at Avis Ford, your family-owned and operated Black-owned Ford dealership in Metro Detroit, take a moment to reflect on the incredible contributions of Black Americans to the automotive industry and our community.

Our story, like many others, is woven into the fabric of Black automotive excellence in Detroit. Family owned and operated since 1986 by Walter Douglas Snr., driven by a dream of building a business that served our community with honesty and trust, we've grown from a small operation to a thriving dealership thanks to generations of hard work, dedication, and a commitment to our customers.

We stand proudly on the shoulders of giants like Mel Farr, William E. Shack Jr., and Dan Gaines, Black pioneers who paved the way for dealerships like ours. Their vision and perseverance opened doors and created opportunities, not just for themselves, but for countless others who followed.

But Black History Month isn't just about celebrating the past. It's about looking forward and continuing the legacy of innovation and community involvement that defines us. As a Black-owned business, we understand the importance of representation and building trust. We're not just selling cars; we're creating relationships, offering opportunities, and fostering a sense of pride in our community.
